It’s hard to believe another month has passed, and summer is slowly burning away! Maybe it’s from all of the rain we had earlier, but with the warmer temperatures, I can’t wait to soak in every second of August.
So, what’s happening around Edmonton this month? I think the better question is: what’s not happening? There are plenty of amazing festivals to take in, and I’ve rounded up some of my favourites. This way, you won’t miss out on any of the fun!
Edmonton Heritage Festival (Hawrelak Park: August 3-5)
This three day, outdoor festival is fantastic for celebrating all of Canada’s amazing multiculturalism. Enjoy the tastes, smells, and sights of countless countries, and cultures. With more than twenty-five stages around the park, you can easily spend a full day filled with enjoyment in Hawrelak Park.
Edmonton Folk Music Festival (Gallagher Park: August 8-11)
Who doesn’t want to enjoy some amazing music with our beautiful city as the backdrop? This event has become a favourite in the city for people of all ages!
Cariwest Caribbean Arts Festival (Federal Plaza Building: August 9-11)
You won’t want to miss this vibrant festival! Enjoy the three day event by taking in live music, costumes, tastes of the Caribbean, and the Caribbean Village Marketplace.
Edmonton Fringe Festival (Old Strathcona: August 15-25)
The perfect event for all ages! The Fringe has something to offer for everyone. Get ready to embrace your creativity, and get your Fringe on, friends!
Edmonton Dragon Boat Festival (Telfor Lake, Leduc: August 16-19)
You don’t have to be in a boat to enjoy this event. Join the festival for plenty of entertainment, and help cheer on all of the teams.
What is your favourite event happening in our amazing city this month? Is there one that you look forward to every year? What’s on your can’t miss list? Let me know! I’d love to add new adventures to my own summer in Edmonton, and I love to hear what my friends are up to this summer.
